Secular Franciscans are members of the Third Order of Franciscans founded by St. Francis of Assisi.  Like all Orders, they follow a Rule of Life which ha been approved by Roe and comes under the jurisdiction of Canon Law.  The local Fraternity (Five Georgia Martyrs Fraternity) is a living and active Christian community and is where members develop their sense of Church, their Franciscan vocation and ministry.  They are not bound by religious vows but promise to follow Christ in the footsteps of St. Francis of Assisi and live Gospel Life while living in the secular world.

As members of the Fraternity, they study various aspects of Franciscan Spirituality and other church issues, share and participate in monthly meetings, and take part in particular Apostolates determined by the Fraternity council and members.
