In Memory of Reverend Jim Holloway

Reverend James Preston Holloway, III

April 26, 1944 – July 11, 2024
Ordained a Priest on May 16, 1970

We give thanks for Fr. Jim Holloway and his service to our St. William parish.  While Fr. Jim was a retired priest of the Archdiocese of Washington, we at St. William have always felt like he was our own.  After his retirement in 2004, he moved to St. Simons, in 2005, where he was of great assistance to the pastors and parishioners here at St. William, and at five other parishes in the Diocese of Savannah.  He said, “I help out the guys (priests) and fill in for them when they are sick or away.”  In an interview with the Catholic Standard for the 50th Anniversary of his Ordination, Fr. Jim said “I have had a very happy life…I have memories of the thousands of people I met and worked with and ministered to – I don’t remember all their names but I remember all their faces.”  Let us remember him in prayer and in thanksgiving for his remarkable service.
May Christ the Good Shepherd lead him to fullness of life eternal in the kingdom of God!

On Tuesday, July 23, 2024, a Funeral Mass was celebrated at 11:00am here at St. William Catholic Church.  The link to the live stream of this Mass is StWilliamonSSI.  Fr. Holloway is interred in the columbarium at St. William.
